Dignity and respect are to be given and earned by student and master
alike.
Individuals have an inherent right to defend themselves with the least
amount of harm to others.
The personal development, in an equally tensioned manner, leads to acceptance in life, an understanding, if you will, that we are responsible for our own actions and their consequences, good or bad.
It is believed that Masters and teachers should facilitate higher learning and knowledge. Masters should act as guides for their students on the path of self-development within the martial arts. Therefore, dignity and respect are expected to be given and earned by student and master alike so that trust may be fostered and true learning and self discovery can occur. Also, a sense of humility about our place in the world, without too much self absorbed contemplation, is essential for correct training and study of Kung Fu and Tai Chi.
Many believe that it is the fighting forms that separate Kung Fu and Tai Chi as martial arts, but in fact it is building an awareness and a sensitivity to the world around us that is one of the key goals of Kung Fu and Tai Chi. To realize that we are completely connected to the earth and all of its living beings is a measuring stick of our path along the Way (Tao). For a student of Kung Fu and/or Tai Chi, being open minded is essential for not only the physical growth of the practices, but for the spiritual as well.
It is my strong opinion that this approach gives both art forms the completeness they deserve. I believe in the improvement of life for all, and also, I believe that each individual has an inherent right to defend themselves with the least amount of harm to another. All life is precious. Through Circle Kung Fu’s approach, a student can Learn in Strength and Live in Peace.
Spirituality
A spiritual connection is a very direct and personal link with The Creator.
Each individual is entitled to their own views on spirituality… a freedom
of expression.
A spiritual connection is a very direct and personal link with The Creator no matter what form of believe structure a person follows. Each individual is entitled to their own views of spirituality and should actively cultivate them in accordance with their intuition. This understanding brings about a freedom of expression in one’s life and an understanding that our actions affect each and everyone around us, including all forms of life.
Study in Kung Fu, with its attention to precise physical movements, balance and co-ordination, directly affects the spiritual development of the individual. The training is intensely personal and should be viewed as a method of self-knowledge and understanding, not just a method of self defence and fighting. As one’s physical strength increases, the spirit solidifies and gains precise focus. This leads to the manifestation of higher consciousness so that a student may Learn in Strength and Live in Peace.
